Basotho runners dominate in SA race
Triple jump specialist Lerato Sechele qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games
In the main 42.2km event, the 2019 High Altitude Summer Marathon gold medalist Teboho Noosi appeared on second position, recording 02:22:45.
Noosi came behind Ndumiso Sokhela of South Africa who clocked in 02:19:52.
In the 21.1km half marathon, the 2020 national track and field events senior championship men 10 000 metres winner Tebello Ramakongoana appeared on pole position clocking in 01:00:18.
Fellow countryman Ramolefi Motsieloa came fourth in the same category.
The 2020 national track and field events senior championship 5 000 metres men category gold medalist, Badboy Toka appeared first in the 10km event, recording 27:51.
Spokesperson of the Federation of Athletics Lesotho (FAL) Sejanamane Maphathe, commended the athletes for a job well done, saying they raised the national flag in the race.
“Their performance was really impressive and there is plenty of room for their development,” he said.

Maphathe said other local athletes competed at the Mangaung track and field events championship in the Free State province over the weekend, in a bid to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
He said only triple jump specialist Lerato Sechele made it through to the Japan Olympic Games.
Local athletes who failed to make the mark included sprinter Mosito Lehata along with track and field performers - ’Manqabang Tsibela, Mthimkholo Hatasi, ’Mamakoli Senaoana and Phomolo Lekhooana.
