IN a bid to shield players from the scorching heatwave, the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) has resolved to adjust kick-off times for all afternoon premier league games.

Matches that normally start at 1 pm will now kick off at 3 pm while those that begin at 2 pm have been moved to 4 pm.

PLMC General Manager, Bonolo ''Noliza'' Senekane said they have among others introduced regular water breaks during the game as a precautionary measure to avoid the situation of players getting dehydrated owing to the strong heat.

''We have already issued a circular to all our structures to make them aware of these new developments in which the premier league fixture kick-off times have been adjusted by an hour to avoid the players collapsing on the field of play due to the scorching heat wave currently being experienced in the country,'' she said.
